Job Description:

We are seeking a results-driven Water and Sewer Engineer with expertise in water and wastewater engineering to manage critical infrastructure projects. You will oversee the planning, design, and construction of municipal water supply systems, wastewater systems, and stormwater infrastructure while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development:
    • Plan, design, and oversee the construction and maintenance of water distribution and sewage systems, including pumping stations, pipelines, and treatment plants.
  • System Optimization:
    • Assess and optimize the performance of existing water and sewer infrastructure.
    • Develop solutions to improve water flow, reduce leakage, and enhance treatment efficiency.
  • Project Management:
    • Lead infrastructure projects from conception to completion, including scheduling, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with municipal and federal regulations.
  • Environmental Compliance:
    • Conduct environmental impact assessments and ensure projects meet Canadian environmental laws and sustainability standards.
  • Hydraulic Analysis:
    • Perform hydraulic modeling and analysis for water and sewer networks to ensure system efficiency and reliability.
  • Construction Oversight:
    • Supervise construction activities to ensure adherence to engineering plans, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Public Infrastructure Planning:
    • Collaborate with government agencies and municipalities to plan and implement public water and sewer services.
  • Technical Reporting:
    • Prepare detailed technical reports, including feasibility studies, design specifications, and environmental assessments.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline with a focus on water resources or environmental engineering.
    • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with Engineers Canada is required.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in water and sewer system design, construction, and maintenance.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, EPANET, or WaterCAD).
    • Knowledge of hydraulic modeling and GIS applications.
  • Regulatory Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with Canadian and provincial water quality standards, environmental laws, and construction codes.
  • Problem-Solving Skills:
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to address complex water and sewer engineering challenges.
  • Communication Skills:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to coordinate with stakeholders and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Teamwork and Leadership:
    • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage large-scale infrastructure projects.
